Looking Back.

I’ve gone all ‘proggy’ and moody with this latest tune. I’ve been doing a little soul-searching lately and have come out the other end a much more well-rounded and happier person, you know, if people could actually program the deep meaning of words such as ‘gratitude’, things would be a whole lot easier (for me anyway). So, to cut a long story short, I’m so wonderfully grateful for my life, my gifts and the people I’ve been blessed to share this latest version of my story with. hope you enjoy the music.

Watercolour Landscape Demo…

My latest video demonstrating some wonderful brushes I received last week from the talented David Jackson- ‘The Brushman’. David makes custom brushes for many applications and his watercolour brushes are brilliant. David can be contacted at:

Torn…

Sorry about the lack of arty posts recently, I’ve been very busy with commissions and dealing with personal stuff, thankfully things are getting back on track.

I my have mentioned it before, but aside from my art, I’m also a guitarist. I used to gig regularly with blues/rock/folk bands and every now and again I’ll spend some time in the studio recording. We recorded this one last year sometime. It’s for the incredible Lloyd Sandersons album ‘Left Phase Blue’. The songs were all written by my songwriting partner Peter FitzGerald and myself. feel free to have a listen…

…And here’s a painting of my old Gibson acoustic (just because)

Colouring line art in photoshop…book illustration…

Recent youtube demo. I’ve been asked often how I go about painting in photoshop and how I make the art look as though it was painted traditionally. This one addresses those questions, feel free to have a look and shoot me any questions you may have…

Reborn…

I’ve been a musician for nearly 25 years now and have had many a great time playing with bands and goofing around in recording studios, nothing beats the thrill of playing live but I’m a 40-something, married father of two young boys and have to confine my musical escapades to sneaky musical doodles on various bits and pieces of software, (until I’m a 50-something old fart who yearns to bring back the good times from his youth by playing in one of those dodgy ‘tribute’ bands or a blues band or something….) nevertheless, it exorcises the music-demons in me and I get to share it with the world on youtube- YAY for youtube… Here’s my latest musical effort, it’s kind of a Gothic/New-Agey/Mike Oldfieldy/Instrumental of sorts…

Wanna Buy A Rolex?

Been having a play with the video camera today and, as I’ve been asked often about my inking process I thought I’d put one or two inking demos together. This birdie was was doodled for that purpose, I’ll be putting the video up on youtube in a day or two, but here’s how he looked when I’d finished, I definately tipped my hat in Arthur Rackham’s direction for this (and make absolutely no apologies for it)… Happy weekend everyone!

Art AND Music…

I don’t talk about my musical side very often as this is basically my art and illustration blog, but as it’s for the preview of my new book I thought I’d mention that I’ve recorded a new tune to go along with a few interior pages of ‘Journey Into Faerie’ written by Sally Odgers and Illustrated by me… here it is:
