Made a watercoloury-sketch-version-thingy of yesterdays’ doodle. Might have a go at painting this one at some point…
Just added new items to the shop, here’s the link:
Had a busy day today at the brilliant CYA conference. Thoroughly enjoyed presenting the ‘Crowd Funding’ session and teaching a great class of keen artists.
Returned home all pumped up after so much energy flying around. managed to finish this one off. Really enjoying using pen and ink at the moment.
Hi all, I’m currently in the early throes of marketing the Fantasy Artroom book and to mark the occasion, I’d like to make special offer of making a sketch inside each copy of the book purchased within the next month. This offer is extended to anyone who mentions that they saw this post.
the cost of the book (including postage) is $30.00 (Australian) to Australian residents and $35.00 (Australian) to anywhere else in the world.
Interior pages (and more info) can be viewed here:
Official Fantasy Artroom Facebook page:
Saw heaps of miniatures floating around on Facebook yesterday, thought I’d have a go myself. Had a great time painting these…
They’re available for sale (along with many others)on my ART FOT SALE website if anybody’s interested:
And I had a GREAT time painting this.
It’s been a while since I got out the acylics and painted anything this detailed. I miss it. Used to do it all the time. May do some more (chuckles).
This one’s currently up for sale on my ‘ART FOR SALE’ website, see here for the link:
Sketching ideas for my #kickstarter book, ‘The Fantasy Artroom’ which incredibly, has only 44 hours to go…
I’m currently in the process of laying out ‘The Fantasy Artroom’, my successfully #funded #Kickstarter project:
We still have ten days #funding to go and I thought it’d be appropriate to add a couple of interior pages so people can view them, find out what all the book is all about.
**Note** Backers of a hard copy of the book now receive an #exclusive print, (see previous post)…And if we hit the stretch goals, there’ll be another one, please feel free to pass the news on to anyone who you feel would be interested!
So the #Kickstarter has funded! ‘The Fantasy Artroom’ is going ahead and will see print in April nextyear. We still have ten days left to go and stretch goals to achieve. I’ll be offering exclusive signed and sketched #prints and the following image is also available as an #exclusive print to all backers of a hard copy of the #book…
And here’s a link to my Kickstarter page:
So, we funded the Kickstarter, how cool is that! Still 12 days to go. Yesterday I posted the Stretch Goal rewards over at the site, check them out…

I’m currently creating new art for the book. I’ve recorded a few steps as I’m working on it. here’s part one- the sketch.
After a day, the pledges have begun rolling in…. If you’d like to be involved, please repost the links, pledge, share to your Facebook wall (etc), every little helps. The book is being developed for beginner to intermediate students who love fantasy art, but not limited to fantasy art. he techniques in the book will be useful across a whole range of genres and the mediums covered are pencil, pen and ink and watercolour.

A new, short inking demo. Page 11 for my Valiant comic:
I posted this on facebook earlier:
and the fabulous Steve Ogden asked if he could ink it, I wasn’t expecting it to be coloured, and hour or so later, he’d turned it into this:
For more of Steve’s work, have a look here:
It’s been a while since I had a play with Crowquills. For my traditional inking purposes I’ve been using inking pens or brushes for a few years. I recently bought a few Gillott mapping nibs. here’s a quick doodle I made yesterday with one.
the character is Fleetfoot, from my VALIANT comic:
Didn’t have time for much else other than this sketch today… This one’s Finn MacNiall, from my (in progress) graphic novel, here’s a link to what I’ve done with it so far…
I’ve just been going through my files and have come across these in amongst a whole heap of things I forgot about. The first one was a watercolour painting I wasn’t particularly happy with, but I’ve greyscaled him and can look at it now, the second is a Centaur from a project I’ve had to abandon due to work commitments, hopefully I’ll be able to pick it up again at some point.
I’ve just set up a site to sell some of the artwork I have in the studio. Feel free to pop by and have a looksee (should you be so inclined).
